YIPEEE we went to New York. We visited with Uncle Steve. Now there is a fellow who knows how to treat a kitty. Before we get there he gets us new toys and leaves them in Mommy RD’s bed. He puts a cardboard box out for us to sit in. This is a favorite of Orion’s.
He sets up wand toys strategically throughout the house. They are stuck into and on things like bookshelves etc. We can swat them, pull them, everything you can think. He has our box waiting so when we get out of the car after our long ride we can go do what needs doing. (Orion here: Risti has a tiny little bladder and runs to the box. I can hold it all day so I proceed at my normal, stately pace. One must never use an unknown box out of the house. In fact I hold it if I am left at the vets for the day until I return home.)
Then we get to settle in. We share one of our chairs in the living room with him. When he gets out we get in. He makes certain that all the laundry baskets have a nice fresh towel over them so we can snuggle into the nice, freshly washed clothes without making them furry. Some times he even washes clothes and hangs them inside so we can play tag with each other while hiding in the hanging clothes. After they are dry is when they are at their best. Also, it is fun to take some of the hanging clothes and run through the house with them. Artemis here: my favorites are the low hanging socks.
We have a little forest where we can rest on a cushion and blanket while basking in the sun. The only thing is sometimes it is a little scary because people water the forest. Uncle Steve set up a fish tank for us to look at too. There had been a fish tank there before, but this one is bigger and better; not to mention we helped with setting it up. Orion was in charge of guarding the fish; Risti was in charge of checking all of the new and old equipment and livestock; Artie supervised all the human workers and Mommy BL took a short nap.
Each morning we go downstairs with him for exercise and massages and tummy rubs. He does the exercise part and we get the massages and tummy rubs, especially Orion. (Artemis here: I’m assigned to supervising the exercising to make sure he sticks to the program.).
We know when it is time to leave NY because the suitcases come downstairs. That is when Artemis and Orion know to hide. This time they tricked us. They brought the suitcases downstairs late at night. That means you are going to leave in the morning. But we didn’t, instead the next night they brought the suitcases back upstairs. When they brought them down again a few days later and left them down there, sitting, all day we thought it was the same trick. Lulled into a false sense of security we didn’t hide in time. So now we are back in MA. (Risti here: Uncle Steve must be lonely without us. I think we should go back soon!)
Hello, Everyone here:
We went vacationing in the Berkshires. Before going here we had never heard of the Berkshires. We still aren’t sure what they are but EVERYONE should come! Other than the long car ride they are great fun. We arrived first, our Mommies and all three of us, Tribe Meezer. Mommy BL left for a little while and came back with our Uncle, YEAH! Our Uncle is lots of fun and likes to play with all of us. He gives GREAT tummy rubs too (Orion).
Artemis: It was a new place and we had to investigate everything. First, we hung out together until we were all a little more comfortable. To tell the whole truth and nothing but new places can be a little scary. So I had to hang with my brothers. There is safety in numbers.
After we knew it was safe, let the Exploring Began! Risti checked out the counters and the kitchen chairs. Normally, we are not allowed on these items, but this was a vacation – no rules apply! I investigated all of the artwork. This did involve excursions onto the kitchen chairs and the couch. But as I said before, no rules on vacation.
There were lots of windows to peep out of and new sights and sounds. Also everyone who saw us knew to stop and admire us. Maybe it was something about 3 kitties in a stroller.
Our vacation place had lots of rooms to play in and explore. Our Mommies brought one of our favorite pillows for us to rest on and nap on. One morning Orion, Risti and I went into Mommy BL’s room and investigated her entertainment center. It had lots of kitty size nooks and spaces to climb in and sit in. You could also jump all the way onto the top of it. The night before we had checked out the one in the living room. But we didn’t have free reign. Our humans were using it to watch something. But the empty one was WAAAAYYY fun.
After playing in the entertainment center we went to a bike path. We don’t ride bikes so we took our stroller. Walkers are allowed. Uncle Steve rode his bike and we walked with Mommy RD. It was a very nice trail but we did not spend enough time on the path.
When we were reloaded into the car I told everyone, “What’s up, why are we back in the car already?”. Risti Here: Artemis was ready for more but I’d had enough and collapsed asleep in the car.
From the Berkshires we went to NY to continue our vacation. We always enjoy our visits to NY. This time we did something a little different. We went to a park and our Uncle barbecued dinner. He also had gotten some stakes and brought a blanket for us. He was a little confused. No way were we going to walk on the plain old ground. He put Risti there and Risti had the good sense to climb up into Mommy BL’s arms. He then checked out the table – Remember rules do not apply on vacation. I got out and sat on the bench with my Mommies. I don’t know why our Uncle expected us to get down onto the ground. He wasn’t sitting on the ground, why would we?
Orion: The sights and smells at the park were interesting, but I wasn’t getting out of the stroller. Our stroller is safe and clean.
Risti Here: That was the last day of our vacation. Since I usually do a lot of talking in these posts I decided to let me sibs talk about vacation. I recommend vacations for everyone.
Instead of going straight home on our way back from vacation my Mommies took me to the blood donation place. Some kitties would think this all made for a very long day. But I thought it was fine and fun. I chatted with the blood donation ladies and then my Mommies came to bring me home. Of course first we had to stop and donate the food I earned to the shelter kitties. I still don’t know why we can’t just bring the food home and eat it.
Anyway now you guys know all about vacation!
